Summary:

With the worry of SIDS (sleeping infant death syndrome) on most new parents’ minds this monitor will bring great peace of mind. The Angel care monitor has a built in thermometer so you know your child is comfortable and their room is at the ideal temperature. In addition the mat sensor will alert you by alarm if the child stops moving for a particular time lenght.

The Angelcare AC1100 is a baby monitor that is sensitive to movement and sound. It uses an analog signal for crystal clear sound and importantly features an under-mattress sensor pad which sounds an alarm of your child stops moving for a certain length of time. The sensor pad has to be used on a solid base so memory foam is out. If there has been no movement for 20 seconds the alarm will go off but false alarms are a rarity as it picks up the child breathing and stirring in their sleep.

Editors’ Hands on Review

The video function features zoom and rotate with full digital colour; the camera has to be angled to point at the sleeping infant. In addition, the Angel care monitor has infrared night vision function so that you can keep watch over your baby in the dark. The Angelcare AC1100 monitor has touch screen controls with colour LED display and a 2.5-inch screen. This can be used like a Smartphone. The camera function is very reliable but the camera has to be positioned and angled properly. Some people were worried that the technology on the handset was not as good as it could be saying they would prefer it not to be so basic when used on their mobile phone.  This baby movement and sound monitor plugs into the mains so battery life shouldn’t be a problem.

No False Alarms

Most people using the baby alarm were pleased with the Angel care monitor and said that the sensor pad had not given them any false alarms. The sensor pad needs a solid wooden base in the cot but it is very easy to set up which is great as it has so many different features. Furthermore, you can operate monitor from the mains or by battery and if the power goes the monitor unit will keep functioning, it comes with 3 AAA batteries. It features a low battery warning alarm and this sounds if you move out of range as well. The Angelcare movement and sound monitor has a 50m indoor range and a 300m outdoor range meaning you are free to move about right into the garden.
